If you live in South Florida, you know the drill: blue skies at 9 AM, a thunderstorm rolling in by 2 PM, and sunshine again by 4. It is one of the most predictable weather patterns in the country , and one of the most common questions we get from customers is, "Does rain affect my pest control service?"
The short answer is: almost never. Here is exactly how we handle weather at Dade Pest Solutions, service by service.
Our General Rain Policy
At Dade Pest Solutions, we do not cancel or reschedule services simply because it is raining. As long as conditions are not a heavy downpour, your scheduled appointment proceeds as planned. This policy exists for two important reasons:
- The products we use are labeled for application in light rain , they are formulated to bond to surfaces even in wet conditions.
- The majority of our exterior treatments are applied under the roof line , along the eaves, entry points, door frames, window frames, and the foundation perimeter , areas that are naturally protected from direct rainfall.
South Florida's afternoon pop-up showers are a fact of life here. Our technicians are trained to work around them, scheduling treatments in the morning when possible and reading weather conditions in real time throughout the day.
Rain Protocols by Service

Residential Protection Program (RPP) , Quarterly Exterior Treatment
Your quarterly RPP service proceeds in light rain. Exterior products are applied along the foundation, under the eaves, around entry points, and to other protected surfaces that remain dry even during a shower. In the event of a heavy downpour at the time of service, we will reschedule your visit and contact you by text or call.

Perimeter Defense System (PDS)
The PDS perimeter treatment follows the same protocol as the RPP. Applications are made to the protected zones around your home's exterior and are not compromised by light rain. Heavy downpours trigger a reschedule.
German Roach Treatment
German Roach treatments are performed entirely inside the home , in the kitchen, bathrooms, and other interior spaces. Rain has zero effect on this service. Your appointment will never be rescheduled due to weather for a German Roach treatment.

Rodent Defense Audit (RDA)
The Rodent Defense Audit is a comprehensive interior and exterior inspection. The interior portion is completely unaffected by rain. For the exterior inspection component, light rain does not prevent us from completing the assessment. A heavy downpour may delay the exterior walkthrough, but we will complete the full audit the same day whenever possible.

Termite Risk Mitigation Plan (TRMP)
Termite inspections and treatments proceed in light rain. Termite bait stations and liquid treatments are applied to the soil and structure in areas that are protected from direct rainfall. If conditions are severe enough to affect treatment quality, we will reschedule and notify you directly.
Mosquito Station Service
Mosquito station inspections and product replenishment proceed in light rain. Stations are self-contained and designed for outdoor use in all weather conditions. Heavy rain may temporarily affect the effectiveness of spray applications, so we schedule spray treatments for dry windows when possible.
Our Re-Treatment Guarantee
In the rare event that a heavy downpour occurs at the time of your exterior service and compromises the treatment, we will return and re-treat at no additional charge. This is handled at our discretion , if our technician determines that the treatment was affected by weather, we will proactively schedule a return visit. You do not need to ask.
This guarantee is part of our broader commitment to delivering results, not just showing up. If the treatment did not work as intended , for any reason , we make it right.
Why This Matters in South Florida
Miami-Dade County averages 61 inches of rain per year , more than Seattle, more than New York, and more than almost any other major metro in the continental United States. The wet season runs from May through October, with afternoon thunderstorms occurring nearly every day.
A pest control company that cancels every time it rains would effectively be unable to service South Florida homes for six months of the year. That is not how we operate. Our protocols, our product selection, and our technician training are all designed around the reality of working in one of the wettest climates in the country.
Pest pressure in South Florida is also year-round , there is no "off season" for roaches, ants, or termites. Consistent, uninterrupted service is the only way to maintain effective protection, and that means showing up even when the weather is not perfect.
What You Should Do on a Rainy Service Day
In most cases, you do not need to do anything differently on a rainy service day. Your appointment is on, your technician is coming, and the treatment will be effective. However, here are a few things that help:
- Keep your phone available. If conditions are severe enough to require a reschedule, we will reach out by text or call. A quick response helps us get you rebooked quickly.
- Do not cancel preemptively. Light rain is not a reason to cancel. If you are unsure whether we are still coming, assume we are , we will contact you if anything changes.
- Ensure access to your property. Gate codes, unlocked side yards, and accessible entry points help our technicians work efficiently even in wet conditions.
